Habit CO₂ adapter: switch to affordable 425-gram CO₂ cylinders
Many water coolers, sparkling water taps, and other sparkling water systems come with their own CO₂ cylinder, a large 2 kg CO₂ bottle, or a disposable cylinder.
That works fine, but can be relatively expensive or inconvenient in daily use. Moreover, some manufacturers use a non-standard or brand-specific connection, meaning that a standard 425-gram CO₂ cylinder does not fit directly onto the original pressure reducer.
For this purpose, we have developed the Habit CO₂ adapter.
If the CO₂ line of the device is accessible, you can disconnect it from the original pressure reducer and connect it directly to the Habit pressure reducer.
The connection of the original CO₂ cylinder then no longer plays a role. This allows you to switch to our affordable, refillable Habit 425 gram CO₂ cylinders for many systems.
Why switch to Habit 425 gram CO₂ cylinders?
The main reason to use this adapter is simple: you no longer want to be dependent on a relatively expensive, heavy, or proprietary CO₂ solution. With the Habit adapter, you can switch to our standard 425-gram CO₂ cylinders for compatible devices. With this, you benefit not only from an attractive purchase price, but above all from our affordable exchange service.
Are your cylinders empty? Then you can easily order new refills via our webshop. We will send full cylinders to you and include a DPD return label so you can return the empty exchange cylinders free of charge. After purchasing your cylinders, you will only pay for the refill with your next order, provided you return the corresponding number of suitable empty cylinders.
So you do not have to go to a filling station yourself and do not have to transport heavy CO₂ cylinders.
The benefits at a glance
With the Habit CO₂ adapter, you combine:
- affordable 425 gram CO₂ cylinders;
- competitive refill prices;
- free return of empty exchange cylinders;
- easy ordering via our webshop;
- small and handy cylinders;
- change without tools;
- refillable cylinders instead of disposable bottles;
- less dependence on a brand-specific CO₂ system.
A practical alternative to a 2 kg CO₂ bottle
A 2 kg CO₂ bottle has the advantage that it contains a lot of CO₂ and therefore needs to be replaced less often. For intensive professional use, that can be a good solution. However, for smaller offices, home use, or other locations where ease of use is important, a 425-gram cylinder can be much more practical. A 2 kg bottle is heavy, and tools are usually required to attach and detach the pressure reducer. You can easily unscrew a Habit 425 gram CO₂ cylinder from the pressure reducer by hand. Then you screw the new cylinder back in.
No heavy bottle and no tools needed.
As a result, virtually every user can replace an empty CO₂ cylinder independently.
From a disposable bottle to a refillable CO₂ cylinder
Does your water cooler currently still use the environmentally harmful disposable CO₂ cylinder?
If the device features an accessible 4 or 6 mm CO₂ line, you can in many cases switch to refillable 425-gram CO₂ cylinders with the Habit pressure reducer. You purchase the cylinders once and then make use of our exchange service. In many cases, this is more cost-effective, prevents you from having to purchase a complete disposable cylinder again with every change, and saves the environment.
Suitable for systems with a brand-specific CO₂ cylinder
An important advantage of this solution is that the connection of the original CO₂ cylinder is no longer the determining factor. Some manufacturers use a proprietary or non-standard thread for their CO₂ cylinders. As a result, a standard 425-gram cylinder cannot be connected directly to the original pressure reducer. With the Habit adapter, you connect the existing CO₂ hose directly to our pressure reducer, where the device design allows. You thereby bypass the original cylinder connection. This can be an interesting solution, especially for systems with relatively expensive branded cylinders.
Suitable for Quooker® CUBE?
Do you have a Quooker® CUBE and want to save on your CO₂ costs? Then you do not need this adapter.
For the Quooker® CUBE, we supply special Habit QUOOK 425-gram CO₂ cylinders that fit directly onto the existing connection of the Quooker CUBE. This means you do not need to modify your system in any way, yet you can still benefit from our affordable CO₂ cylinders and exchange service.
For a Quooker CUBE, we therefore recommend our directly fitting Habit QUOOK CO₂ cylinders instead of this separate pressure reducer.
This Habit CO₂ adapter is primarily intended for other water coolers, sparkling water taps, and sparkling water systems where a standard Habit 425-gram CO₂ cylinder does not fit directly onto the existing pressure reducer, but the 4 or 6 mm CO₂ line is accessible.

Suitable for GROHE Blue?
The Habit CO₂ adapter can be used with certain GROHE Blue systems when the CO₂ line is externally accessible and has a diameter of 4 or 6 mm.
Please note regarding GROHE Blue Home. BIn certain GROHE Blue Home versions, the original 425-gram CO₂ cylinder is screwed directly into an integrated bottle holder of the cooler/carbonator. In these models, the CO₂ line is located inside the device. Therefore, the Habit CO₂ pressure reducer cannot be connected to these versions without opening or modifying the device. Habitat Solutions advises against opening a GROHE Blue Home for this purpose and does not have an installation or disassembly manual for this modification. Furthermore, opening or technically modifying the device may affect the manufacturer's warranty.
Suitable for 4 and 6 mm CO₂ lines
The Habit CO₂ pressure reducer comes with push-fit connections for both 4 and 6 mm CO₂ piping.
Whether the adapter is suitable is therefore not determined solely by the brand or model of your device.
More important is how the CO₂ installation is constructed.
Check before ordering:
- whether the CO₂ hose between the existing pressure reducer and the device is accessible;
- or the hose has an outer diameter of 4 or 6 mm;
[block=Installation CO2 adapter]
This is how you connect the Habit CO₂ pressure reducer
- Check whether the device has an accessible 4 or 6 mm CO₂ line.
- Place the correct 4 or 6 mm push-fit coupling on the Habit pressure reducer.
- Shut off the existing CO₂ supply.
- Remove the existing CO₂ cylinder.
- Disconnect the CO₂ hose from the existing pressure reducer.
- Insert the hose fully into the push-fit connection of the Habit pressure reducer.
- Insert the retaining clip.
- Turn the Habit pressure reducer completely off.
- Screw the Habit 425 gram CO₂ cylinder into the pressure reducer by hand.
- Open the pressure reducer slowly.
- Set the CO₂ operating pressure prescribed by the manufacturer of the connected device.
- Check all connections for leaks and then test the sparkling water system.
Never exceed the maximum CO₂ inlet pressure prescribed by the manufacturer of the connected device.
How do I replace an empty CO₂ cylinder?
- First, turn the Habit pressure reducer completely off.
- Next, manually unscrew the empty 425-gram CO₂ cylinder from the pressure reducer.
- Turn the full cylinder back into the pressure reducer by hand.
- Then slowly open the pressure reducer again to the correct set working pressure (measuring strike around 3,5 bar).
No tools are needed for this.
Does this CO₂ adapter fit my water cooler or sparkling water system?
In many cases, you can easily check this yourself.
Do you see an accessible 4 or 6 mm CO₂ hose between the current CO₂ pressure reducer and your water cooler or sparkling water system? In many cases, the Habit CO₂ adapter can then be connected to this pipe.
This solution can be particularly interesting if your current CO₂ cylinder has a non-standard or brand-specific connection. After all, you will no longer be using the original cylinder connection after the conversion.
Is the entire CO₂ system located inside the appliance? Then installation is not possible without technical modification.
Are you in doubt?
Send us the brand, model number, and preferably a photo of the existing CO₂ connection. We would be happy to take a look with you.
Use CO₂ more economically without the hassle of heavy bottles.
The Habit CO₂ adapter is primarily intended for users who want to make the use of CO₂ simpler and more cost-effective. Instead of remaining dependent on a relatively expensive branded cylinder, a disposable bottle, or a heavy 2 kg CO₂ bottle, you can switch to our handy 425-gram Habit CO₂ cylinders for suitable systems.
You subsequently benefit again with every exchange from: Affordable 425-gram CO₂ cylinders, competitive refill prices, easy tool-free exchange, and free return of empty exchange cylinders.
That is the most important reason to choose the Habit CO₂ adapter.

[block=FAQ]
[question]How do I set the correct CO₂ pressure?
[answer}The correct CO₂ pressure varies per water cooler and sparkling water system.Therefore, always use the operating pressure prescribed by the manufacturer of the connected device (usually 3,5 bar). A higher CO₂ pressure does not automatically mean that the system functions better. Never exceed the maximum permissible CO₂ inlet pressure of the device.
[question]Do you have too little fizz?
[answer] Then check first:
- whether the CO₂ cylinder is still sufficiently filled;
- whether the pressure reducer is open;
- whether all connections are gas-tight;
- whether the CO₂ hose is not kinked;
- whether the water pressure and CO₂ pressure meet the specifications of the device.
[question]The fizz in my water cooler is too weak, what can I do?
[answer]If the effervescence is too weak, you can increase the intensity by setting the pressure reducer slightly higher.
[question]There is no fizz in my water
[answer]Check that all connections are tight and that the pressure reducer is open. Still no fizz? Then check the water pressure. If the water pressure is too high, it is not possible to get carbon dioxide into the water. Increase the pressure of the pressure reducer until the fizz is good. Is your water pressure very high and do you not get fizz in your water even at a higher pressure? Then place a reducer on the water pipe to reduce the pressure there.
